Hair loss from weight loss surgery, any shampoos that can help?
I had a gastric sleeve 5 months ago and my hair is coming out like crazy, I know that is low in protein and are able to increase this time (complications from surgery ….. Long story.) Any shampoo out there anywhere that can help?
No. Hair products will not cause hair to either stop falling out or to start growing. These products address the already grown hair, not where it grows from. However you may try minoxidil (branded as Rogaine). It typically takes months to show growth improvement, but in your case it may stop the hair loss nearly immediately. Then, when you are able to intake the protein you need, you can stop using it.

I’d think that you would want to avoid using shampoos or any hair care products at the moment because your hair is so sensitive. If your really worried about it though I would try anything thats packed with protien like Pantene Pro-V and thats not breaking your bank. If you want something more on the salan side look for shampoos thats have Karitin and Protein extracts. The other road to go would be investing in a full lace wig. They look like real hair and if applied right no one can tell the difference.
No, shampoos are a cosmetic, and by law, cosmetics cannot do anything along the medical line.
There is nothing you can put on your hair or scalp that will make your hair stop falling. You need to correct the cause. Because it is an internal medical condition, you need to correct it internally and medically. Do not be mis-led by “miracle cures” for hair loss. There is nothing that has been shown to actually work. No matter what they may claim, they cannot legally actually say it will make your hair grow back, or that it will stop hair loss, because they cannot prove it. Look closely, and you will see they skirt the issue.
If it is lack of protein, that is severe starvation, and should never have happened. There is a hint of malpractice here. You can increase your intake of protein in many ways… you need to find a reputable doctor to help you with this. It is beyond the likes of us.
